From January 03 to 05, 2023, The Philippine President H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., undertook his first state visit to China since his inauguration. On January 4, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with the Philippine President Marcos Jr. at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, China. The two state leaders have underscored the vast potential of cooperation between the two countries, and are committed to prioritize their cooperation in four key areas including agriculture. In the morning of January 5, President Marcos Jr. held a Business Roundtable Meeting with a dozen of representatives from Chinese companies. As a leading company in China's phosphate and compound fertilizer industry, Yonfer was honorably invited.

A high level delegation of more than 20 Philippine government officials led by President Marcos Jr. attended the meeting. Secretary of Trade and Industry Alfredo E. Pascual gave an opening remark and President Marcos Jr. delivered an important speech.

Business Roundtable Meeting

During the President's visit, Mr. Yang Lei, Executive CEO of Yonfer, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Fertilizer Supply with Ms. Emmie Liza Perez Chiong, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC). Mr. Yang said that Yonfer attaches great importance to international business, and Southeast Asian countries including the Philippines are important markets for Yonfer. He also expressed his pleasure at signing the MOA with PITC during President Marcos Jr.'s state visit to China. He hoped that the cooperation between the two sides would become a paragon for Yonfer in the Southeast Asian market, and contribute to the agricultural development of the Philippines.

In the meeting, Mr. Chen Hongkun, Vice President of Yonfer, introduced Yonfer's development history, current development, advantages of products, technologies and service, as well as business planning in the Philippines. He noted that Yonfer would be committed to providing high quality and affordable fertilizer products to Philippine farmers, and making contributions to bilateral trade and agricultural development.

President Marcos Jr. pointed out in his speech that food security is crucial and the Philippine government pays great importance on fertilizer supply. He has devoted a large part of his career to the agricultural development of the Philippines. After he was elected as President, he still holds the concurrent post of the Secretary of Agriculture of the Philippines. He expressed his appreciation to Yonfer for signing the MOA and providing high quality fertilizers and technical services to the Philippines. He stressed that the Philippine government will strongly support the development of Chinese enterprises in the Philippines. At the same time, he also hoped that Yonfer would sincerely cooperate with its Philippine partners to jointly build a resilient and sustainable cooperation.

The holding of Business Roundtable Meeting and the signing of MOA reflect the great importance and expectation of the Philippines on cooperation with China in the process of strengthening its agricultural development, and also reflect the determination of Yonfer to further expand its international business.
