R&D Direction

Yonfer consistently adheres to the strategy of "Innovation-driven, Green Development." Through continuous R&D investment, technological innovation, and strategic industrial layout, the company has established three core R&D directions along the phosphorus chemical industry chain: new fertilizers, phosphorus-based new energy and new materials, and phosphogypsum building materials.

New fertilizers: With the goal of synergistically improving crop yield and quality, maximizing nutrient use efficiency, and promoting soil health, the company is dedicated to the development and application of eco-friendly products. These include crop-specific fertilizers, slow and controlled-release fertilizers, stability fertilizers, water-soluble fertilizers, bio-organic fertilizers, microbial fertilizers, and soil conditioners. This commitment drives the transformation and upgrading of our products towards being "highly efficient, specialized, eco-friendly, and functional."

Phosphorus-based New Energy and New Materials: Aiming for the green development of phosphate rock resources, this initiative focuses on the strategic layout of precursors for new energy battery materials, such as iron phosphate. Furthermore, by comprehensively utilizing associated fluorine and silicon resources to produce anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, it achieves cascaded development and high-value utilization of phosphorus resources, thereby unlocking new growth points in value.

Phosphogypsum building materials: Addressing the challenge of comprehensive phosphogypsum utilization in the phosphorus chemical industry, we are advancing purification technologies to break through the quality bottlenecks that hinder its transition from "solid waste" to "raw material." This enables the development of a diversified product portfolio—including cement retarders, alpha high-strength gypsum powder, ecological restoration materials, and soil conditioners—ultimately achieving large-scale, resourceful, and high-value utilization of phosphogypsum.

Innovation Platform

With perfect R&D system and strong independent R&D capability, precise analysis laboratory and modern test base, as well as advanced R&D and testing equipment, Yonfer can meet the inspection and test requirements of different technical series and test standards. Yonfer has built five research and development platforms including the Key Laboratory for Crop Specific Fertilizers of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Hubei Enterprise Technology Center, Hubei Crop Nutrition and Specific Fertilizer Engineering Technology Research Center, and Hubei Crop Specific Fertilizer Technology Enterprise-University Joint Innovation Center, Hubei Engineering Research Center for Efficient Utilization of Nutrient Resources, 5,000 square meters of scientific research sites, and equipped X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, plasma emission spectrometer and other detection equipment worth nearly 25 million RMB yuan, so as to ensure the smooth implementation of different R&D projects.

To further strengthen the integrated layout of the industrial chain and promote technological innovation in line with the dual-core business positioning, the "One Academy, Three Institutes" framework has been established. This includes Yonfer Research Institute, under which three specialized institutes operate: New Fertilizers and Green Agriculture Institute, Phosphorus-based New Energy and New Materials Institute, Solid Waste Research Institute. The "One Academy, Three Institutes" will focus on cutting-edge industry technologies, address process-related challenges in mass production, explore downstream segments across various business sectors, and continuously enhance the company's capabilities in technological incubation and independent innovation.

Industry-University-Research Collaboration

Adhering to the development path of the collaboration of industry, university and research, Yonfer has not only established long-term cooperation with more than 20 scientific research institutions including the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center (NATESC), China Agricultural University, China National Hybrid Rice R&D Center, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University, Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shandong Agricultural University, Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry and Hainan University, but also some international organizations such as the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA), the University of Melbourne, the University of Adelaide and world famous specific fertilizer companies such as COMPO Expert from Germany and VAN IPEREN from Netherlands, jointly committed to the technology upgrading and application of international advanced new fertilizer.

In 2025, Yonfer officially launched a strategic partnership with the Oil Crops Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Both parties will jointly conduct the R&D, production, and promotion of ARC+ compound fertilizers. This initiative aims to achieve large-scale application of the product and technology on oil crops such as peanuts and soybeans across the country, promoting the high-quality development of the oil crop industry and safeguarding national oil supply security.

In 2024, Yonfer initiated a new five-year strategic cooperation with COMPO EXPERT. Over the next five years, both sides will scale up their partnership, engaging in deep synergy in technological innovation, market promotion, and brand building. This will continue to provide strong support for improving the quality and efficiency of agricultural production and for the high-quality development of modern agriculture in China.

In October 2022, Yonfer and Hainan University signed an open subject cooperative research development agreement on the Development and Demonstration of Specific Fertilizers for High Value Added Crops in Hainan, which focuses on developing the formula of specific fertilizers for high value added crops in Hainan, exploring a new model of replacing quick acting fertilizers with long-term fertilizers, and expanding the demonstration application of high value added crops in Hainan.

In April 2022, Yonfer established a strategic partnership with Van Iperen, a world famous fertilizer enterprise based in Netherlands, launched the Zinomi compound fertilizer, and committed to building it into a high-end compound fertilizer brand with market influence.

In 2020, Yonfer, the University of Melbourne and the University of Adelaide jointly established the MAX-IFIC International New Fertilizer Research Center, and employed internationally renowned academicians MIKE and Professor Chen Deli as R&D consultants to commit to research and innovation in the efficiency enhancement of nitrogen, phosphorus and trace elements, so as to accelerate Yonfer to reach world-class R&D standards.

In August 2019, Yonfer and Huazhong Agricultural University signed an open subject cooperative research development agreement on Development of High Efficiency Specific Fertilizer for Rape to Meet the Demand of Restorative Planting of Rape. In 2020, the research Innovation and Application of Key Technologies for Accurate, Light and Efficient Nutrient Management of Rape won the first prize of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. In August 2022, the two sides launched the second phase of the project.

In October 2017, Yonfer signed a cooperation agreement with COMPO EXPERT GmbH to carry out strategic cooperation on the development of stable fertilizers. Through the superposition of technical cooperation, localized production and brand channels, the two sides have achieved deep integration, mutual benefit and win-win results, and contributed to promoting the Zero Growth of Fertilizer, improving agricultural quality and efficiency, and increasing farmers' income.

In October 2010, Yonfer signed a university enterprise cooperation agreement with China Agricultural University and jointly build a national soil test-based fertilization demonstration network to promote the R&D and popularization of formulated fertilizers and new fertilizers.
