Yonfer, in collaboration with Huazhong Agricultural University and Oil Crops Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, has been approved to establish the "Key Laboratory of High-Efficiency and Crop-Specific Fertilizers" under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA). This approval marks national recognition of Yonfer's comprehensive capabilities in new fertilizer R&D and technological innovation, and provides a high-level platform to support national strategic goals in fertilizer manufacturing and green agricultural development.

The laboratory aims to drive innovation, commercialization, and industrial upgrading in agriculture by strengthening the role of enterprises in R&D, and will focus on developing specialized fertilizers, soil-improving products, and fertilizer application methods. Its work will support major national objectives such as increasing grain and oilseed production and promoting low-carbon, sustainable agriculture.
In recent years, Yonfer has shifted from traditional to new-generation fertilizers, guided by principles of efficiency, specialization, environmental friendliness, and functionality. The company has developed and commercialized products including controlled-release fertilizers, stabilized fertilizers, organic-inorganic fertilizers, water-soluble fertilizers, microbial fertilizers, and customized formulas. Its R&D efforts cover areas such as water-fertilizer integration, tailored fertilization programs, and soil health, providing solutions aimed at improving soil quality, increasing yields, and enhancing nutrient efficiency.
The establishment of this laboratory represents a key milestone in Yonfer's innovation system. It will help structure Yonfer's R&D in fundamental and applied research, enhance core technological capabilities, and support its transition toward greener, more specialized, and efficient fertilizers. This is expected to contribute to improved fertilizer utilization, higher crop yields, and sustainable soil management, supporting national food security.
As a leading phosphate and compound fertilizer producer in China, Yonfer follows an "Innovation-Driven, Green Development" strategy. The company currently operates over 10,000 square meters of R&D facilities equipped with 218 instruments valued at more than USD 6 million. Its nearly 700 R&D staffs have participated in over 20 national and provincial research projects, secured more than 280 patents, and contributed to 8 national and 8 industry standards.
